The &#8216;Nuns&#8217; Network&#8217;\u00a0project which is\u00a0supported by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gerda-henkel-stiftung.de\/?page_id=94423\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gerda Henkel Stiftung<\/a>\u00a0is led by the historian Eva Schlotheuber and the Germanist\u00a0Henrike L\u00e4hnemann. The first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seh.ox.ac.uk\/news\/nuns%E2%80%99-network-funding-success-medieval-german-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">project meeting had taken place in Februray in St Edmund Hall<\/a>, the second was now hosted at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frias.uni-freiburg.de\/de\/veranstaltungen\/frias-tagungen\/workshop-netzwerke-der-nonnen\">FRIAS<\/a>\u00a0where\u00a0Henrike L\u00e4hnemann is a Senior Research Fellow. The two days saw a packed work schedule developed by Simone Schultz-Balluff who brings to the project the historical linguistics perspective from her own project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de\/schultz-balluff\/sanktanselmus.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Anselmi Fragen an Maria<\/a>: editing principles, work flow, digital realisation&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The discussion of the last point was mainly led by Torsten Scha\u00dfan from the\u00a0Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenb\u00fcttel where the letters will be open access published in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/diglib.hab.de\/wdb.php?dir=edoc\/ed000216&amp;pvpointer=0&amp;pvID=pv_edoc_ed000216_003_fac-trans&amp;distype=optional&amp;xmld1=003\/003_Scheurl-an-K.-19-12-1509.xml&amp;xsld1=tei-transcript.xsl&amp;fd2=http%3A%2F%2Fdiglib.hab.de%2Fvaria%2Fselecta%2Fed000155%2Fstart.htm%3Fdistype%3Dimgs\">Digital\u00a0Library<\/a> (the link leads to\u00a0an example from the Karlstadt edition, developed by Jennifer Bunselmeier, now DPhil student at St Edmund Hall). Currently, the digital position for the project is advertised at the HAB Wolfenb\u00fcttel, with generous support from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.volkswagenstiftung.de\/foerderung\/aussergewoehnliches.html?tx_itaofundinginitiative_itaofundinginitiativelistgeneralfi%5Bcontroller%5D=FundingInitiative&amp;cHash=86ac19d79af8e87cba02a00cc02ebb51\">VolkswagenStiftung<\/a> (which operates a call under the principle &#8216;open for the unexpected&#8217; &#8211; offen f\u00fcr das Ungew\u00f6hnliche), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.klosterkammer.de\/html\/k_s_links.html\">Klosterkammer Hannover<\/a> (which supports Kloster L\u00fcne as well as the other L\u00fcneburger and Calenberger Kl\u00f6ster)\u00a0and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbk-bs.de\/default.asp?SID=0&amp;REF=21&amp;DOC=0&amp;PAGE=37\">Stiftung Braunschweigischer Kulturbesitz<\/a> (in whose area Wolfenb\u00fcttel is located).\u00a0It is a worthwhile challenge to agree on xml transcription guidelines and final representation online and in the print edition as a group coming from disciplinary backgrounds and traditions of standardisation, levels of historical and linguistic commentary.\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/medingen.seh.ox.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/Guenterstal-gruppe-611x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Klosterplatz G\u00fcnterstal\" width=\"300\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The content side is supported by D\u00fcsseldorf PhD student\u00a0Lena Vosding who works on a thesis on the letters\u00a0(cf. her blogpost \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/whatisaletter.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/26\/gifts-from-the-abbey-a-presentation-by-lena-vosding-guest-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gifts from the abbey<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In between, there was time for a glimpse of the Middle Ages in and around Freiburg: a tour of the M\u00fcnster and an excursion to\u00a0G\u00fcnterstal &#8211; the second postdoc in the project,\u00a0Edmund Wareham, has written his PhD thesis on the nuns thee (cf. blog post on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/oberrhein.hypotheses.org\/499\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">everyday culture of the nuns between gingerbread and church<\/a>).
