The Spatiality of the North German Convents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Keynote for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk\/events\/2022\/05\/06\/19th-annual-german-graduate-symposium-space-time-and-direction\">19th Annual German Graduate Symposium: Space, Time, and Direction<\/a>, organised by Sarah Fengler and Alexandra Hertlein  The talk explores how the Benedictine nuns of L\u00fcne Abbey in the early 16th century used their correspondence to discuss theology, lobby for their independence, and successfully communicate with those in power, their families and other convents. The examples were taken from the <a href=\"http:\/\/diglib.hab.de?link=075\">ongoing edition<\/a>, introduced the fascinating language mix of the letters, and discussed the strategies used by the nuns to promote their community.
